The Aldrenor Global Contributor & Intelligence Fellowship is a voluntary contributor programme for journalists, writers, analysts, researchers, media creators, podcast contributors, event ambassadors, executive interview researchers, strategic storytellers, students, professionals, Africans in the Diaspora, African descendants and Africa-connected voices.
Below are answers to common questions from applicants.
It is a voluntary contributor programme designed to bring together serious African, Diaspora African, African-descendant and Africa-connected voices who want to contribute to journalism, deeper analysis, executive insight, live programming, podcasts, events, research, strategic storytelling and premium intelligence products.
No. This is a voluntary contributor programme. It is not employment, a paid internship, worker status or a paid staff role.
Contributors are not paid a salary, wage or automatic fee for participation.
No. Participation in the fellowship does not create employment, worker status, agency status, consultancy status or a paid staff relationship with Aldrenor.
Contributors participate voluntarily and may choose whether to accept contribution opportunities.
Aldrenor may reimburse reasonable pre-approved expenses where applicable. Expenses must be approved in advance.
Unauthorised expenses will not be reimbursed.
High-quality contributors may be considered for future freelance, project-based or paid opportunities where available. However, no paid work is guaranteed.
Any future paid engagement would be subject to separate formal terms.
Applications are welcome from journalists, analysts, students, researchers, academics, African diaspora professionals, African descendants, policy enthusiasts, business writers, media producers, podcast hosts, event organisers, content creators, economists, development practitioners, technology commentators and professionals interested in Africa’s place in the world.
Yes. The programme is especially suitable for Africans in the UK, Europe, North America, the Gulf, Asia and other parts of the world who want to contribute to Africa’s global media, business, policy, investment, technology, culture and development conversations.
Yes. Aldrenor welcomes African descendants, people of African descent, Afro-Caribbean communities, Black British communities, African Americans, Afro-Europeans, Afro-Latin communities and global Black professionals interested in Africa’s global future.
Not necessarily. Journalism experience is helpful for the journalism track, but Aldrenor also welcomes researchers, analysts, professionals, students, podcast contributors, event organisers, media creators and strategic storytellers.
Applicants should show seriousness, clarity, originality, professionalism and interest in Aldrenor’s mission.

Yes. Applicants may select one primary track and one secondary track.
Aldrenor may place applicants based on experience, interest, portfolio quality and programme needs.
No. Publication is not automatic.
All submissions are subject to editorial review, fact-checking, relevance, quality, originality, legal review where necessary and alignment with Aldrenor’s standards.
Where appropriate, published contributors may receive a byline.
Bylines are subject to editorial decision, content type, contributor role and publication format.

The programme is voluntary and flexible. Contributors are not required to work fixed hours.
Applicants should indicate how often they may be able to contribute. Contribution may be occasional, monthly, project-based or more regular depending on the contributor’s availability.
Yes. Contributors may stop participating at any time by informing Aldrenor.
Contributors must follow Aldrenor’s editorial standards, including accuracy, originality, proper sourcing, fact-checking, AI-use disclosure, conflict-of-interest disclosure, copyright rules and professional conduct.
AI tools may be used for limited support such as grammar review, transcription, organisation or drafting assistance, where appropriate. However, contributors must disclose material AI use and remain responsible for accuracy, originality and source integrity.
Aldrenor will not accept fabricated, generic, plagiarised or misleading AI-generated content.
Yes, but opinion pieces must be clearly framed as opinion, grounded in evidence, relevant to Aldrenor’s mission and written responsibly.
Opinion must not be disguised as news reporting.
Contributors may not represent themselves as employees, agents, officers or official representatives of Aldrenor unless specifically authorised in writing.
Approved event ambassadors or contributors may receive specific written guidance for particular activities.

Aldrenor will review applications and may invite shortlisted applicants to submit a trial contribution, article pitch, research memo, podcast concept note, event concept or strategic storytelling outline.
Successful applicants may be placed as contributors, fellows, research associates, ambassadors or specialist contributors.
